Gessert bat uns nach verschiedenen Quellen ältere Angaben überalte englische Glasmalereien übermittelt.

Ob das von der Königin Eleonora 1155 nach Brayne geschenkte Fensterenglische Arbeit gewesen, dürfte nicht zu beweisen sein. Ebensowenig ist die Notiz *),dass unter der Regierung König Johann’s, also gegen Ende des 12. Jahrhunderts, inEngland zum ersten Male auf Glas gemalt worden sei, über allen Zweifel erhaben.
