Root of Gentian,

Round Birthwort,

Bay Berries,Myrrh,Despumated Honey,

twenty-four ounces.

R. Rob of Juniper, four ounces.

Myrrh, dissolved in Wine,Powdered Root of Angelica,-Long

Mix. (Fuld.)

It is stomachic, carminative, diaphoretic,emmenagogue, and alexipliarmic. Dose,from a dram to half an ounce.

GINGIVAL LINIMENT.

Linimentum gingivale mundificans. (Fuld.)

R. Aqueous Extract of

Myrrh, I of each,

Alcoholic Hydroehlo- f two drams.

Honey of Roses, two ounces.

Mix.

GINGIVAL ELECTUARY.

Electuarium gingivale. (Spielmann)R. Root of Tormentil, one dram and a half.

---------- Florentine Iris, half a dram.

Herb of Sage,

---------- Southernwood,

---------- Rue, I of each,

Flowers of Columbine, [one dram.

------------- Pomegranate,

Petals of Red Roses,

Seeds of Scurvy- 1 ofeacllone

Egyptian Mummy, 1 of each,

Myrrh, J one dram.

Mastic, "I of each,

Gum Lac, J two drams.

Dragon's Blood, one dram and a half.

Calcined Alum, half a dram.

Honey of Roses, a sufficient quantity.

Mix.

BALSAM OF MYRRH.

Potassidum Myrrhœ. (Van Mons)

R. Myrrh, in powder, eight parts.

Fused Caustic Potass, one part.

Triturate together, adding a sufficientquantity of water to enable the mixture tobe strained : set it then aside, decant, andevaporate it to the consistence of balsam.(Van Mons)

Van Mons also prescribes four ouncesof soap-boiler's lye and one ounce of myrrh.

It is applied externally to strumous glan-dular swellings.

OINTMENT OF MYRRH.

Unguenturn Myrrhœ. (Augustin ; VanMons)

R. Balsam of Myrrh, one part.

Simple Cerate, warmed, eight parts.Triturate. (Van Mons)

R. Yolks of Eggs, two.

Fresh Butter, three ounces.

Spermaceti, } of each, two drams.Melt, strain, and add,

Peruvian Balsam, half a dram.

Mix. (Augustin)

It has been recommended to render thecicatrices of variola less perceptible.

MYRRHINE PLASTER OF SULPHUR.

Emplastrum sidphuratum seu diamlphurisRulandi. (Bruns.; Fuld.; Palat. ;Wirtem. ; Niemann ; Piderit; Spiel-

mann)

one ounce,four ounces,five ounces.

ten ounce«.

R. Sublimed Sulphur,

Olive Oil,

Yellow Wax,Melt slowly, and add

Powdered Myrrh,Mix. (Gall.)

R. Sulphureted Balsam of "1

Turpentine, I of each,

Yellow Wax, six ounces.

Resin, J

Powdered Myrrh, eighteen ounces.

Melt and incorporate. (Palat. ; Wir-tem. ; Niemann)

Spielmann prescribes six ounces each,of balsam and of resin, two of wax, andnine of myrrh. Piderit three ounces ofbalsam, three drams of resin, half an ounceof wax, and four ounces of myrrh.

It is stimulant, and resolvent.
