R. Myrrh,Olibanum,Saffron, half a dram.

Make a very fine powder, and sprinkle ittwo or three times with distilled water offrogs' spawn ; then dry, and add to it,

Camphor, three drams.

Mix. (Wirtem.)

Palat. directs twenty or thirty times itsweight of the water to be imbibed.

It is astringent, and serves to arrest hae-morrhages.

R. Powdered Myrrh, "I of each,

Conserve of Orange, J one scruple.

Subcarbonate of Potass, five grains.

Syrup, a sufficient quantity

to make a mass.R. Spermaceti, two scruples.

Myrrh, one scruple.

Simple Syrup, a sufficient quantity.Mix.

BALSAMIC PILLS. (FULD. ; HaMB. ; LlPP.)

R. Compound Extract of Rhubarb,

four scruples.

Extract of Myrrh, two scruples.

Make pills of two grains each. (Hann.)

R. Aqueous Extract of Myrrh,

FERRUGINOUS BALSAMIC PILLS. (HAMB.)

R. Mass of Balsamic Pills, three drams.Levigated Iron Filings, one dram.

Mix.

STOMACHIC PILLS. (SaINTE-MARIe)

R. Myrrh, four drams.

Extract of Lesser Centaury, two drams.

Peruvian Balsam, two scruples.

Mix. Dose, twelve grains, thrice a day.

BITTER PILLS.

Pilulœ Myrrhœ amarte cum Ammoniaco.(Augustin)

Gum Ammoniac, I of each,

Extract of Blessed Thistle, f twodrams.

Succinic Acid, one dram.

Venice Turpentine, three drams.

Rhubarb, in powder,

a sufficient quantity.Mix. Dose, from twelve to twenty-four

grains, every three hours, or twice a day ;

in constipation or hypochondria.

ASTRINGENT PILLS.

Pilulœ Myrrhœ cum Arnica. (Augustin)

R. Extract of Myrrh, two drains.

-------------- Arnica, one dram.

Benzoic Acid, two scruples.

Copaiba, one scruple.

Extract of Liquorice,

a sufficient quantity.Mix. Dose, twelve grains, every two orthree hours, in chronic gonorrhoea.

CORROBORANT PILLS. (PiERQUIn)

R. Myrrh, four drams.

Galbanum, f ,

Extract of Buckbean, \ , ot e , 'Catechu, J two drams -

Syrup, a sufficient quantity.

Make pills of three grains each. Tissotprescribed them in incipient tabes dorsalis,in the dose of twenty-one daily, to be takenat thrice ; taking with each dose, threeounces of a decoction of two ounces of cin-chona, one ounce of the bark oi caper root,two drams of cinnamon, and half an ounceof iron filings, in two pounds and a half ofwater.

Spermaceti, two drams.

Triturate with the yolk of an egg, and add,Liquorice Powder, a sufficient quantity.

It is recommended towards the termina-tion of pneumonia, to facilitate expectora-tion. Dose, one dram, in a glassful of or-dinary drink.
