Brugnatelli prescribes five pounds ofplaster, eight ounces of wax, four ounceseach, of galbanum and of gum ammoniac,and five ounces of turpentine. — Piderit —one pound of plaster, one ounce of each ofthe gum resins, and four ounces of turpen-tine. — Lipp. directs to be mixed together,one pound of melted plaster, and a meltedmixture of one ounce each, of galbanumand of gum ammoniac, and four ounces ofturpentine.
Van Mons directs one part of galbanum,and one and a half of yellow wax to bemelted together, and left in digestion forone hour ; then to be strongly expressed,and six parts of simple plaster added.R. Simple Plaster, two pounds.
Gum Ammoniac, six ounces.
Yellow Wax, three ounces.
Melt very slowly together. (Lusit.)R. Galbanum, one ounce and a half.

This plaster is reputed warming andirritant.
It is not unlikely that when the necessityshall be sufficiently understood, of purgingour pharmacopœias of empirical formula;,that, in place of such useless lumber as themass of the above recipes form, some plastersimilar to that of the last formula will beadopted. It is difficult to see the use ofthe oleo-margarate of lead in these com-pounds, and perhaps Palat. and Fuld.have done well in suppressing it in theformula; they prescribe.

R. Yellow Wax, twelve parts.
Resin, four parts.
Melt, strain, and add to the mass when
half cold, the following substances melted
slowly together,
Turpentine, four parts.
Gum Ammoniac, two parts.

Add when the mass is nearly cold,

Sulphur, two ounces.
Melt the resins, and gums with the tur-pentine over a slow fire, and when the massis nearly cold, add to it the pulverized sul-phur. (Sard.)
R. Yellow Wax, twelve parts.
Elemi, one part.
Strain the melted mass, and incorporateit with a slightly warmed mixture of
Sagapenum, one part.
Gum Ammoniac, two parts.
Turpentine, three parts.
Then add
Pulverized Bdellium,------------- Amber,

It is stimulant, resolvent and corroborant.— It was formerly much extolled in cases ofoedema and luxations.
