Oil of Almonds, 1 of each,

Turpentine, J half an ounce.

Spermaceti, two ounces.

Pulverized Galbanum, half an ounce.Mix perfectly. (Bruns. ; Wirtem.)R. White Wax, four ounces.

Having melted it, add

Spermaceti, two ounces.

Powdered Galbanum, one ounce.

Mix. (Palat.)R. Spermaceti Cerate, seven parts.

Ä } of each, one part.

Beat together. (Sax.)

It was formerly employed to soften andresolve glandular tumours ; and particularlyto disperse the mammary swellings of lying-in women, which were attributed to coagu-lation of the milk.

R. Purified Galbanum.eightounces.

Plaster of Lead, three pounds.

Turpentine, ten drams.

Resin, three ounces.

Having melted together the galba-num and turpentine, mix in first theresin, and then the plaster previouslymelted over a slow fire, and mix thewhole together.

Emplastrum gummosum. (Edinb. ;and Coxe).

R. Plaster of Semivitreous Oxide

of Lead, eight parts.

-Gum Ammoniac,Galbanum,

Yellow Wax, cut.

ofeach,one part.

Melt the plaster and wax, and theother ingredients, and mix.

Emplastrum Galbani. (Dubl. ;Coxe; Niemann)

R. Plaster of Litharge, two pounds.

Galbanum, half a pound.

Yellow Wax, cut, four ounces.Having melted the galbanum, addthe plaster and wax, and melt thewhole together with a gentle heat.

R. Simple Plaster, sixteen hundred parts.

Turpentine, J ninety-six parts.

Melt together over a slow fire ; then add,previously dissolved in alcohol (10 degrees),and evaporated to the consistence of honey,

Sagapenum,Mix intimately. (Gall.)

R. Simple Plaster,Yellow Wax, 1Resin, S. of each, three parts.

Turpentine, J

Gum Ammoniac, two parts.

Galbanum, ) , ,

Sagapenum, } of each, one part.

Melt the plaster in a water-bath, and addthe wax ; at the same time put the othersubstances into a pipkin with four parts ofwater, and when dissolved, express the massinto the liquified plaster, and stir the wholetill cold. (Form. Hop. Fr.)R. Simple Plaster, one pound.

Melt it slowly, and add

Gum Ammoniac, 1 of each,

Galbanum, /

dissolved in

Vinegar,Then add

Saffron, one dram and a half.

Mix. (Bruns.)R. Simple Plaster, three pounds.

Melt it over a slow fire, and add

Gum Ammoniac, 1

Galbanum, of each,

Bdellium, one ounce,

Sagapenum, J

dissolved in

White Wine, one pound.

Evaporate slowly to the consistence ofhoney, stirring constantly, and then to theconsumption of all humidity. (Hisp.)
