ASSAFŒTIDA.
R. Infusion of Chamomile, four ounces.Mixture of Assafcetida, two ounces.Opium, two grains.

Yolk of Egg, one scruple.
Infusion of Chamomile, four ounces.Cinchona, in powder, half an ounce.Mix. (Brera)R. Herb of Tansey, 1 of each,
Root of Valerian, J three drams.Boiling Water, eight ounces.
Infuse, and add when strained,
Assafcetida, triturated with
Yolk of Egg, half a dram.
Oil of Tansey, one dram.

These various lavements have been re-commended in a great Dumber of nervousdisorders ; and also in the treatment of thedangerous fevers, now referred to inflam-mations of the alimentary canal.
TONIC AND ANTISEPTIC MIXTURE.
Mixtura tonico-aniisep/ica. (Brera)
R. Assafcetida, triturated with

Peppermint Water, four ounces.
Mix. — Dose, two spoonfuls every twohours.

R. Assafcetida, one dram.
Peppermint Water, one ounce and a half.Ammoniated Tincture of
Valerian, two drams.
Tincture of Castor, three drams.
Sulphuric jEther, one dram.
Mix. — Dose, a spoonful, ever)- two hours.

R. Assafcetida, one dram.
Water, four ounces.
Tincture of Tolu, half an ounce.
Tincture of Opium, forty drops.
Mix. — Dose, a tea spoonful, every twohours, in hooping cough.
ANTISEPTIC FOMENTATION. (BrERa)
R. Assafcetida, half an ounce.
Decoction of Cinchona, four ounces.Infusion of Chamomile, six ounces.Proof Spirit, half an ounce.
Mix. It is applied when there is a ten-dency to gangrene.

Digitalis, six grains.
Oxymel of Squill, two ounces.
Distilled Lime-tree Water, four ounces.Mix. It is employed with success in thedry cough sometimes attendant upon aber-rations of the menses, particularly at theperiod of return.

Digest for twenty-four hours, and distilfour pounds of spirit.
It is stimulant, anti-spasmodic, carmina-tive, anti-epileptic, and anti-hysteric. —Dose, from forty to eighty drops. It isalso employed externally.
