EXTRACT OF TORMENTIL.

R. Root of Tormentil,Spring Water,
one pound,six pounds.
Digest for four days in a warm place,and then boil a little. Evaporate the ex-pressed liquor to the proper consistence.(Bruns. ; Palat. ; Wirtem.)
Sard, directs the liquor to be boiled downto two thirds before straining and evapo-rating.
R. Root of Tormentil, one part.
Water, eight parts.
Macerate for twenty-four hours, thenboil for a quarter of an hour, and expressstrongly ; boil the residue with
Water, four parts.
Mix, and after twenty-four hours' repose,evaporate to the proper consistence. (Ant. ;Lipp.)
Batav. requires twenty-four hours' di-gestion, and two hours' ebullition with tenparts of water, and a second ebullition witheight parts of water. — Amst. — an ebullitionfirst with twenty and then with fifteenparts of water, to be reduced each time toone half. — Hisp. — twenty-four hours' di-gestion, and two hours' ebullition, firstwith ten parts of water, and then with afresh quantity, to be reduced each time toone half.

Exhaust the root by successive ebulli-tions ; then mix the decoctions, and afterdécantation, evaporate to the consistence ofan extract. (Austr.)
Herbip. requires only one ebullition,but prolonged for two hours. — Bavar. —one part of root to be first boiled in eightand then in four parts of water, aftertwenty-four hours' previous maceration.
Dose, from one scruple to half a dram.

Make pills of four grains each. They are
recommended by Quarin towards the end
