A shrub of the middle of Europe and ofthe east. (Diandria Monogynia, Linn. ;Jasminere, Jess. ; Fig. Zorn. Ic. pi. t. 153.)
The flowers [Flores Jasmini) are employ-
ed. They are white, pedunculated, dis-posed in corymbs. When fresh, they exhalean agreeable odour ; their taste is bitterish.
SPIRIT OF JESSAMINE. (SpIELMANn)
R. Oil of Jessamine,Alcohol,
sixteen ounces,eighteen ounces.
Mix with agitation ; then expose, to thecold, to congeal the oil, and pour off thespirit.

The seeds {Semines Ricini majoris, Nuxcat hart tea Americana, Nux Barbadensis) are
employed. They are oval, somewhat com-pressed, of the size of a filbert, rugose, andblackish. Their taste is acrid and burning.They are purgative.

R. Seeds of Jatropha Curcas,
any quantity.
Bruise them in a mortar, enclose the pastein a linen bag, and express.
It is drastic and emetic ; it is recom-mended in ileus, worms, and obstinate piles.— Dose, from half an ounce to two ounces.

The internal bark of the trunk and of theroot is employed ; it is purgative. The in-ternal bark of the root is said, when fresh,to be vesicant.
