Black Pepper, two drams.

Despumated Honey,

sixteen ounces.Pulverize and mix.It is stimulant and emmenagogue.

R. Fresh Tops of Rue, two ounces.

Powdered Mustard, two drams.

Beat together. — This paste is applied up-on the wrist several hours before the pa-roxysm.

Pure Water, eight pounds.

Boil down to one half, and express.

Evaporate the liquor slowly to the

consistence of pilular mass.

Genev. gives the same formula.R. Herb of Rue, one pound.

Spring Water, six pounds.

Digest in a warm place for four days,then boil a little, and express. Evaporatetlic liquor to the proper consistence.(Bruns. ; Palat. ; Wirtem.)Dose, from ten grains to half a dram.

Spring Water, six ounces.

Infuse for twelve hours, and strain. Add

Essence of Myrrh, half a dram.

Vinegar, ten parts.

Macerate without heat for several days,express lightly, and filter. (Van Moss)

Sard, prescribes one part of rue, fourparts of vinegar, and six days' digestion ina moderate heat. — Bruns. ; Hass. ; Pa-lat. ; Wirtem. ; and Piderit. — one ofrue, six of vinegar, and a few days' diges-tion. — Amst. ; and Borus. — one of rue,nine of vinegar, and three weeks' infusionin the siui. — Austr. — one of rue, twelve ofvinegar, and three days' maceration.R. AcaTR. prescribes three ounces of rue,two pounds of distilled vinegar, severaldays' digestion in a moderate heat, and theaddition of one eighth of alcohol.

Here, as in every vinegar, simple or com-pound, the alcohol is intended to preventdecomposition. — Wirtem. thinks the addi-tion of one-twentieth is sufficient.
