RAPHANUS.RADISH.

Herb of Water Cress,

---------- Scurvy-grass,

Brooklime,

of each,one part.

Spirit of Scurvy-grass,

one part and a half.Rhenish Wine, ninety-six parts.

Infuse for eight days ; then express, andfilter. (Van Moss)

R. Fresh Root of Horse-radish, one ounce.------ Leaves of Scurvy-grass,----------------------- Water

of each,

---------------------- Buckbean,

Seeds of Mustard,

Muriate of Ammonia, two drams.

White Wine two pounds.

Digest for thirty-six hours, occasionally

agitating; strain with slight expression, and

add to the liquor

Spirit of Scurvy-grass, half an ounce.Mix. (Gall.)R. Fresh Root of Horse-radish,

twelve ounces.------------- Burdock, five ounces.

White Wine,

II. Root of Horse-radish, \ of each,

White Wine, a sufficient quantity

to obtain, after half an hour's infusion, twopounds of strained liquor ; add to this

Syrup of Fennel, ~| of each,------------- Juniper, J two ounces.

Mix.

ANTI-SCORBUTIC SYRUP.

Syrupus anti-scoriuticus seu anti-scoroutiaiscompositus seu Cochlcarice officinalis com-

positus seu de Armoracia compositus.(Ant. ; Belg. ; Gall. ; Spielmann ;Swediaur ; Van Mons)

Bruised Cinnamon,Fresh Leaves of Scurvy-grass,

----------------------- Brooklime,

----------------------- Cress,

one part.

ofeach,

Seeds of Mustard, thirty-five parts.Fresh Root of Horse-radish,

forty-five parts.Orange Juice, ninety parts.

Red Wine, two hundred and sixty parts.Infuse for twenty-four hours at a mode-rate temperature ; when cold, express theliquor, and dissolve in it, at a gentle heat,White Sugar,

four hundred and eighty parts.Strain the syrup through a sieve. (VanMons)

Bitter Oranges, sliced,

Cinnamon, bruised,

one ounce and a half.

White Wine, four pounds.

Macerate for two days in a tin cucurbit

covered with its capital and well luted.

Distil in a water-bath one pound of liquor,

with which and

White Sugar, two pounds,

make a syrup in a covered vessel placed ina water-bath. Strain, without expression,what remains in the cucurbit. Set apartthe liquor, and finally decant, and make asyrup with

White Sugai, two pounds.

Clarify the syrup, and when it is onlywarm mix it with the preceding. (Gall.)R. Fresh Herb of Scurvy-grass, "1 of each,

Cinnamon, in powder, six ounces.

Bitter Oranges, sliced, one pound.

Alcohol (20 degrees), two pounds.

Distilled Water, eight pounds.

Mix in an alembic, and distil slowly livepounds of liquor, with which and

White Sugar, ten pounds,

make a syrup by the heat of a water-bath. Express strongly what remains inthe cucurbit. Add to the strained liquor

White Sugar, ten pounds.

Clarify, boil slowly to the consistence ofsyrup, and when cold, mix it with the pre-ceding. (Ant. ; Belg.;
