ANTI-SCORBUTIC BEER.
Cerevisia Armoraciœ. (Cadet de Gassi-court ; Hufeland ; Van Mons)
R. Horse-radish, five ounces.
Beer, two pounds.
Infuse for twenty-four hours, and add tothe strained liquor,
Simple Syrup, one ounce.
Mix. (Hufeland)R. New Beer, twenty pounds.
Suspend in it, during its fermentation,a bag containing

Sage,
Agrimony, >■
Scurvy-grass,
Lesser Wormwood, *
Root of Elicampane, 1 of each,

Seeds of Mustard, "1 of each,
of each,one handful.
four ounces.
Strain at the end of two or three days.(Cadet de Gassicourt)
R. Oranges, three.
Express the juice, and pour it into
Strong Beer, sixty-four parts.
Macerate, without heat, in the mixtureFresh Leaves of Scurvy- "1
grass, I of each,

----------- Sage,
Mustard, "1Root of Horse-radish, J one half part.
At the end of several days, strain withslight expression. (Van Mons)
Dose, two or three glassfuls, daily, inscurvy and disorders of the loins, bladder,and liver.
COMPOUND SPRUCE BEBR.
Bizrre Sapinette. (Cadet de Gassicourt)
R. Beer, four pounds.
Root of Horse-radish, two ounces.Leaves of Scurvy-grass,
one ounce and a half.Buds of Spruce Fir, one ounce.
Infuse, and express. — Dose, from two tofour ounces daily.
VINEGAR OF HORSE-RADISH.
Acetum Cochleariœ Armoraciœ. (Swe-diaur)
R. Root of Horse-radish, one ounce.
Vinegar, one pound.
Macerate for eight days, and filter.
It is principally employed as a cosmeticfor the removal of freckles ; it is also usedagainst scorbutic ulcers of the mouth.

R. Green Walnuts, \ of each,
Rootof Horse-radish, J two pounds.Vinegar, three pounds.
Digest in a moderate heat for five or six
days, and strain. — Dose, from half an ounce
to three ounces.
COMPOUND TINCTURE OF HORSE-RADISH.
Tinctura Raphani composita. (Form.Hop. Fr. ; Niemann)
R. FreshRootof Horse-radish, twoounces.Dried Orange Peel, one ounce.
Spirit of Scurvy-grass, four pounds.Digest for several days, and express.
It is excitant, and is recommended inscurvy. — Dose, a spoonful.

R. Bitter Infusion, six ounces.
Tincture of Horse-radish, half an ounce.Honey of Roses, two ounces,

R. Root of Horse-radish, half a pound.White Wine, eight pounds.
Digest for four days, and strain.It is excitant and anti-scorbutic.
COMPOUND WINE OF HORSE-RADISH.
Vinum Cochleariœ compositum. (Form.Hop. Fr. ; Niemann; Swediaur)
R. Root of Horse-radish, one ounce.
Cinnamon, of each,
Seeds of Black Mus- >■ one ounce and
tard, J a half.
White Wine, two pounds and a half.Macerate for three days, frequently agi-tating, and afterwards decant the clear part.(Swediaur)
R. Compound Tincture of Horse-radish,one ounce.White Wine, two pounds.

It is excitant, and is recommended inscurvy, derangement of the digestive func-tions from weakness of the stomach, and inparalysis. — Dose, five or six spoonfuls twicea day. It may be mixed with water whentaken.
