JUNIPERUS.

Distil forty parts, draw off the oil, andpreserve the water. (Van Mons)R. Oleo-saccharum of Juniper,

one dram.Distilled Water. eight ounces.

Dissolve. (Cast. Bonus.)

SPIRIT OF JUNIPER.

Spiritus Juniperi. (Ant.; Bruns. ; Füld.;Hann. ; Hass.;Lipp.; Pal at. ; Wir-tem.; Herbip. ; Piderit ; Van Mons)

Juniper,Alcohol,

one part,twelve parts.Macerate for twenty-four hours, and dis-til. (Fuld.; Hass. ; Piderit)

Ant. ; and Lipp. prescribe one part ofjuniper and twelve parts of alcohol.Bruns. ; Pai.at. ; Wirtem. ; and Her-bip. one of juniper and two of alcohol.R. Juniper, one part.

Alcohol, four parts.

Water, a sufficient quantity.

Distil at the end of twenty-four hours.(Hann.)

R. Juniper, fifteen pounds.

Sugar, half a pound.

Yeast, two ounces.

Add a sufficient quantity of warm water

to mix the whole well together, expose it

to the temperature of from + 15 to + 18

degrees R. ; after the fermentation, pour

it into an alembic : add twice its quantity

of water, and eight pounds of spirit from

grain. Distil a spirit marking from 18 to

20 degrees.

It is carminative and diuretic. Dose,from two to four drams.

It is extolled by Rosenstein in ecchy-moses and cold tumours. Chrestiex em-ploys it in frictions to the spine and loinsin women disposed to abortion.

DIURETIC LINIMENT.

Linimentum resolvens et diurelicum.(Brera)

R. Spirit of Soap, three ounces.

------------- Juniper, one ounce.

Mix. To be rubbed upon the abdomen,morning and evening, in ascites with de-bility.

Tops of Wormwood,

Lesser Centaury,

Juniper,Subcarbonate of Potass

half an ounce.Spirit of Juniper, six pounds.

Macerate for eight days, and filter.

It is excitant and diuretic. Boerhaaverecommended it in dropsy. Dose, oneounce, four times a day.
