It is excitant, emmenagogue, and anthel-mintic. — Dose, from thirty to fifty drops.—It is also applied as a stimulant to atoniculcers, but, for this purpose, it was moregenerally employed by the ancients than bymodern surgeons.

Ph. Syph. prescribes one ounce of tinc-ture, and half an ounce of honey of copper.R. Herb of Sage, half an ounce.
Boiling Water, a sufficient quantityto obtain six ounces of decoction. Add toit when strained
Tincture of Myrrh, two drams.

Isinglass, a sufficient quantity
to make a thick jelly. Add
Solution of Myrrh, one dram.
Mix. — It is recommended in ulceration ofthe bladder. (Augustin)
R. Acetate of Lead, one dram.
Water, six ounces.
Dissolve, and add
Solution of Myrrh, two ounces.
Tincture of Opium, one ounce.
Mix. — It is employed in chronic gonorr-hoea. (Augustin)
ALKALINE TINCTURE OF MYRRH.
Mixtura Myrrhœ alcalisata, Tinctura seuEssentia seu Solutio Myrrhœ alcalisata.(Bruns. ; Hass. ; Sard. ; Wirtem. ;Pidf.rit)
R. Myrrh, half a pound.
Subcarbonate of Potass, eight ounces.
Spring Water, one pound and a half.Digest for six or eight days, and evapo-rate in a water-bath to the consistence ofhoney : pour upon the residue
Alcohol, twenty ounces.
Digest, and filter. (Bruns. ; Wirtem. ;Piderit)
Saunders prescribes two ounces ofmyrrh, half an ounce of solution of sub-car-bonate, and a sufficient quantity of alcoholto cover the dried mixture by three or fourfingers' breadth. — Hass. — half a pound ofmyrrh, a sufficient quantity of solution ofpotass, and twenty ounces of alcohol.
It is a more active stimulant than thesimple tincture. — It was formerly employedin the dressing of wounds, but rarely, onaccount of the pain occasioned by thealkali.

R. Tincture of Myrrh, eight ounces.
----------------- Castor, sixteen ounces.
Extract of Savine, one ounce.Digest, and filter.
It is stimulant, and is recommended par-ticularly in irregularity of the menses anddiseases of the uterus. — Dose, from fortyto fifty drops.
VINEGAR OF MYRRH.
Acetum Myrrhœ. (Herbip.)
R. Powdered Myrrh, one ounce.
Vinegar, half a pound.
Digest for several days, in a moderatetemperature, then for an hour in a water-bath, and strain.
OIL OF MYRRH.
