Yellow Wax, eight ounces and a half.Remove it from the five, and add

INFUSION OF NUTGALLS.
Infusum Gallarum. (Austr. ; Ferr. ;Ellis)
R. Bruised Nutgalls, two ounces.
Boiling Water, one pound.
Macerate for twenty-four hours, express,and filter. (Austr.)
Ellis prescribes two drams of galls, andtwelve ounces of boiling water ; to be in-fused for four hours. — Ferr. — one ounceof nutgalls and eight ounces of water.
Dose, two spoonfuls, every hour or two,in diarrhoea.
ASTRINGENT FOMENTATION. (SwEDIAUR)
R. Nutgalls,
from half an ounce to one ounce.Boiling Water, two pounds.
Digest for an hour, and strain.
ASTRINGENT INJECTION.
Injectio ex Galiis. (Augustin ; Ph. Syph.)
R. Powdered Nutgalls, two drams.
Boiling Water, one pound.
Infuse for an hour, and strain. (Augus-tin ; Ph. Syph.)
R. Nutgalls, half an ounce.
Water, a sufficient quantity
to obtain eight ounces of decoction. Dis-solve in it when strained,
Alum, two drams.
Sulphate of Zinc, two grains.
Mix.
This is recommended by Kortum. (Au-gustin)
It is used in obstinate blenorrhcea.
ASTRINGENT GARGLE. (RatIER)
R. Decoction of Barley, four ounces.
Roses,
Nutgalls, > of each, one dram.
Pomegranate Bark, JRed Wine, four ounces.
Honey of Roses, two ounces.
Sulphuric Acid, a sufficient quantity.Mix.
ASTRINGENT POTION. (ELLIS)
R. Infusion of Nutgalls, four ounces.
Prepared Chalk, half an ounce.
Tincture of Opium, 1 of each,
Gum Arabic, J one dram.
Mix. — Dose, a spoonful every two hours.
DECOCTION OF NUTGALLS.
Decoctum Gallarum.R. Nutgalls, half an ounce.
Spring Water, two pounds.
Boil down to one pound or to one poundand a half.
Dose, one spoonful. — It is also appliedin lotions, to prolapsed rectum, and to he-patic spots (taches hépatiques) .

Nutgalls, coarsely powdered,
any quantity.Water, a sufficient quantity.
Exhaust the galls by several successiveboilings ; mix the decoctions, and, afterdécantation, evaporate the liquor in a wa-ter-bath.
TINCTURE OF NUTGALLS.

R. Nutgalls, in powder, two ounces.Proof Spirit, sixteen ounces.Macerate for seven days, and filter.(Edinb.)

Bavar. prescribes one part of galls, andeight parts of alcohol (0.900).— Van Mons— one of galls and eight of proof spirit. —■Niemann — half an ounce of galls and twoounces of alcohol.
Dose, from one to three drams.
