Make into pills of one or two grains each. One or two, according to the age of thepatient, to be given ever)* two hours, tillthree alvine dejections are produced daily. Plenciz extolled them in the treatmentof the glandular tumours consequent onscarlatina.

R. Aqueous Extract of Opium, one ounce.

Myrrh, M

Saffron, I of each,

Deutoxide of Antimony, )>one dram.

Subcarbonate of Ammonia,

Trochiscs of Viper,

Aurate of Ammonia, J

Oil of Cloves, fifty drops.

Make a pilular mass. Dose, from one tothree grains. These pills were regarded asanodyne and sudorific.

1. Axungia Taxi. Badger's Fat.

2. Sevum bovillum seu bubalum. Beef Suet.

Synonimes : Graisse de Bœuf, Fr. ;Rindstalg, Ochsenschmalz, Germ. ; Ox-etalg, Dan. ; Oxtalg, Swed.

That which surrounds the kidnies is prin-cipally employed. It is white, solid, and ofa" vapid odour.

3. Medulla bovilla. Beef Marrow.

Synonime : Moelle de Bœuf, Fr. ;Gall. ; Spielmann.

It resembles suet in its consistence, it isof a white colour, with a reddish tinge ;and has an agreeable taste.

4. Axungia Pedum Tauri. Neat's-foot Oil.

This is softer than that of the ox ; andit has a greenish tint.
