R.

Leaves of Rue,Hot Water,

six parts,fourteen parts.

Add to the

four parts.

Infuse for half an hour,strained liquor,

Sulphate of Zinc,

---------------- Copper,

Spirit of Camphor,

Dissolve. (Van Mons)

Van Mons gives this formula under thetitle of St. Jerneron's Collyrium. Süec. ;and Niemann, under those of CollyriumStierncronense seu Decoctum Rutee zincatumseu Aqua ophthalmica Odhelii, give the fol-lowing proportions : two parts of rue,thirty-six of water, reduced to one half, andto twelve ounces of the strained decoction,one ounce of sulphate of zinc, three dramsof sulphate of copper, and half a dram ofspirit of camphor.

Triturate and fuse together ; keep it overthe fire till perfectly dry, adding towardsthe end,

Saffron, half a dram.

This preparation has been recommendedto be applied to ulcers, as detergent and de-siccative.

OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT.

Unguentum ophthalmicum seu ad OculiDefluxiones catarrhosas ex relaxatione.(Bruns.; Fuld. ; Piero.uin)

Sulphate of Zinc,Fresh Butter,

one part,seven parts.

Triturate together. (Fold.)

Bruns, prescribes one part of sulphate,and six parts of butter. Piercuin oneof sulphate, and four of butter.

1. In the solid form.

Van Mons.

R. Oxide of Zinc, any quantity.

Distilled Vinegar, a sufficient quantity,to dissolve the oxide with heat. Filter, con-centrate, and crystallize.

2. In the liquid form.

Edinb. ; Dubl. ; Amer. ; Dan. ; Ph.Syph. ; Coxe ; Ellis ; Niemann ;Planche ; Swediaur ; Van Mons.

Solutio Acetatis Zinci. (Edinb.)

R. Sulphate of Zinc, one dram.Acetate of Lead, four scruples.Distilled Water, twenty ounces.

Dissolve the salts separately, eachin ten ounces of the water; then mixthe solutions, and filter after the pre-cipitate has subsided.

Swediaur prescribes one dram each, ofthe two salts and three ounces of boilingwater. Planche twenty grains, each,of the salts, and six ounces of water. Amer. ; and Niemann twelve grainsof sulphate of zinc, sixteen of acetate oflead, and half a pint of water. Coxe ; andNiemann give the same formula as Edinb.R. Oxide of Zinc", any quantity.

Acetic Acid, a sufficient quantity,

to dissolve the oxide. Take twenty dropsof the solution, and add to it four ouncesof water. (Ph. Syph.)
