This formula was probably framed fromthe following which Spielmann gives underthe name of Aqua ophthalmica, and the pro-duct of which certainly does not contain anatom of zinc :R. Prepared Tutty, "1

Cloves, > of each, one ounce.

Sugar Candy, J

Camphor, 1 of each,

Aloes, J one dram and a half.

Spanish Wine, forty-eight ounces.

Water of Pale Roses, six ounces.

------- Eye-bright, f two ounces.

Macerate for fifteen days in the sun, anddecant.

There is in Bruns., under the title ofAqua ophthalmica usualis, the followingformula, which somewhat resembles Pier-quin's :

Acetate of Lead, one dram and a half.Camphor, one dram.

Sulphate of Zinc, two scruples.

Mix, and preserve.

Mix the oil with melted wax; thenremove the mixture from the fire, andas soon as it begins to thicken, addthe calamine, and stir constantly tillcold.

R. Simple Cerate, five parts.

Prepared Impure Carbonateof Zinc, one part.

Mix.

Unguentum calaminare. (Dubl.)

R. Ointment of Yellow Wax,

five pounds.Prepared Calamine, one pound.Make an ointment.

Amer. ; Hann. ; Lusit. ; Coxe ; Nie-mann ; and Swediaur give the same for-mula as Lond. Fuld. prescribes twelveparts of oil, six of wax, and four and a halfof calamine. Amst. two of oil, one ofwax, and one and a half of calamine. Ca-det de Gassicourt six of oil, one ofwhite wax, and one of calamine.

R. Simple Liniment, five parts.Prepared Impure Oxide ofZinc, one part.

Mix.

Unguentum Tutise. (Dubl.)

R. Ointment of White Wax,

ten ounces.Prepared Tutty, two ounces.

Make an ointment.

Batav. ; Hann. ; Olden. ; Pol. ; Bo-rus. ; and Sax. prescribe eight parts ofsimple cerate, and one part of impure oxide. Genev. twelve of cerate, and one ofoxide. Augustin two drams of oxide,and one ounce of rose ointment. Lusit.thirty-two of lard, one of wax, and eight ofoxide.
