Triturate with a little boiling water ;then strain the pulp through a silk sieve,and evaporate it to the consistence of honey ;then add one-sixth of sugar, and evaporateagain to the required consistence. (Hann.;Olden.; Pol.; Bonos. ; Sax.; Swe-diaur)
Bruns. ; Hass. ; Palat. ; Wirtem. ;and Piderit prescribe two parts of pulpand one part of sugar.— Dan. ; Ross. ; andHerbip. — three of pulp and one of sugar.— Spielmann — four of pulp and one ofsugar. — Fenn. — twenty-four of pulp andone of sugar.
R. Tamarinds, bruised, any quantity.
Water, a sufficient quantity.
Boil for some time, and strain throughflannel ; add half an ounce of iron filingsto each pound of the strained liquor, andset aside for twenty-four hours; thenpour off the clear part, plunge a polishediron plate in it, and if no particle of cop-per is deposited upon the plate, evapo-rate the liquor to the consistence ofhoney. Add three ounces of sugar toeach pound of the decoction, and evapo-rate to the required consistence. (Fuld. ;Lipp.)

Boil for ten minutes, and strain withoutexpression.

Mix, and add to the strained liquor

COMPOUND INFUSION OF TAMARINDS.
Infusum Tamarindorum compositum.(Bruns. ; Lusit.)
R. Pulp of Tamarinds, 1Manna,
Orange Peel, two drams.
Boiling Water, eight ounces.
Digest till the manna and pulp becomedissolved, and strain. (Lusit.)
R. Tamarinds, freed from their stones,
half a pound.Oleosaccharum of Lemon, one ounce.Lemon Juice, half an ounce.
Supertartrate of Potass, two drams.Boiling Water, eight pounds.
Infuse, and strain. (Bruns.)
It is laxative.
DECOCTION OF TAMARINDS.

Boil for a quarter of an hour, and strain.(Ratier)

Niemann prescribes two ounces of ta-marinds, four pounds of water reduced tothree, and one ounce and a half of syrup ofraspberries.

Corinth Raisins, two ounces.
Water, a sufficient quantity
to obtain sixteen ounces of strained liquor.
Boil for a few moments, and strain with-out expression.
Ant. prescribes two ounces of tamarinds,four of raisins, and two pounds and a halfof water, to obtain two pounds of strainedliquor.

Nitrate of Potass, three drains.
