Unguentum Solani. (Spielmann)
R. Expressed Juice of the leaves andberries of Garden Nightshade,
thirty-six ounces.Olive Oil, fifty-four ounces.
Subcarbonate of Lead, eight ounces.Semi-vitreous Oxide of Lead,
thirty-six ounces.Boil, and addWhite Wax, six ounces.
Powdered Olibanum, three ounces.Mix.

R. Herb of Black Nightshade, one part.Water, three parts.
Distil one half. (Brunb. ; Palat.)
Gall, directs twelve parts and a half ofwater to be poured upon five of herb, andtwo parts distilled ; the product to be mixedwith five of herb and ten of water, and tento be again distilled : the operation may berepeated a third lime if thought requisite.

The herb is reputed anti-spasmodic. —Latham recommends the extract of it.

R. Potatoes, washed, any quantity.
Rasp them, and mix the pulp with a suf-ficient quantity of water to enable it to bepassed through a sieve. Receive the strainedturbid liquor in an earthenware vessel, andset it aside ; purify the fécula with repeatedablutions, and dry it at a gentle heat in adark place.

The herb [Herbal Virgte aureœ seu Con-solids Saracenicœ seu Solidaginis Sarase-
nicai) consists of a pubescent, branchingstem, and of leaves, the lower ones ofwhich are elliptical and the upper lanceo-lated. It has a bitter, styptic, and some-what aromatic taste.It is diuretic.

Boil it for an hour in a sufficient quantityof water, and express ; set aside and decantthe liquor, and evaporate it to the consist-ence of thick honey.
