Alum,

Catechu, y of each, two drams.

Cinnamon, J

Simple Syrup, a sufficient quantity

to make an electuary.

astringent opiate wine. (form.Hop. Fr.)

R. Diascordium,Red Wine,

Digest.

one part,twenty-five parts.

ASTRINGENT LAVEMENT. (BRERa)

R. Infusion of Chamomile, four ounces.Yolks of Eggs, two.

Diascordium, one dram.

Mix. To be exhibited in passive alvinedischarges, emesis, gastrodynia, and spas-modic colic.

ANTI-EMETIC PILLS. (P1ERQ.UIN)

R. Powdered Mint, two drams.

------------- Wormwood, two scruples.

------------- Pomegranate Flowers,

one scruple.Oil of Cinnamon, two drops.

Diascordium, one dram.

Syrup of Quince, a sufficient quantity

to make a pilular mass. Dose, ten grains,thrice a day.

ASTRINGENT MIXTURE.

Jiilapium sistens, Mixtura tristem seu Opiiadstringens Sanguinis seu ad VomitumSanguinis. (Hisp. ; Saunders)

R. Compound Electuary of Catechu

(Form, of Edinb.), three drams.Tincture of Opium, forty drops.

White Sugar, half an ounce.

Alexiterious Water, four ounces.

Spirituous Cinnamon Water,

two ounces.Mix. (Sard.)

The two following formulas should heplaced here, although they do not containthe preparation in question :

R. Syrup of Poppies, one ounce.

Water of Red Poppies, seven ounces.Catechu, one dram and a half.

Sydenham's Laudanum, twenty drops.

Mix. (Saunders)

R. Distilled Water, two ounces and a half.

'------ Vinegar, half an ounce.

Opium, two grains.

Mix perfectly, and add

Powdered Red Coral, half a dram.

------------- Catechu, half a scruple.

Simple Syrup, one ounce.

Pulverize the hard substances, and tri-turate together the resins and balsams in amortar heated in a water-bath ; then addthe extracts, the volatile salts in powder,and finally the essential oil. (Bruns.)
