ALCOHOLIC EXTRACT OF SAVJNE.
Extraction Saiinœ alcoholicum. (Herbip.)R. Tops of Savine, "^ of each,
Alcohol,Water,
one pound,eight pounds.
Digest for three days in a moderate tem-perature ; then express, set aside and decantthe liquor : distil off the alcohol, and eva-porate the residue to the proper consistence.
DECOCTION OF SAVINE.
Decoction Saiinœ. (Niemann)

Herb of Savine, one ounce.
Boiling Water, one pound.
Boil down to six ounces ; then strain, andadd
Syrup, one ounce.
Mix. — Dose, two spoonfuls every twohours.
INFUSION OF SAVINE.
Infusum Saiinœ. (Augustin)

Herb of Savine,Boiling Water,
one dram,seven ounces.
Infuse, and strain. — Dose, a spoonfulevery two hours. — Rau extolled it in asthe-nic inflammations of the uterus and bladder.
ALKALINE TINCTURE OF SAVINE.
Tinctura Saiinœ Icalina seu arthritica,(Augustin; Niemann; Swediaur;Van Mons)
R. Fresh Leaves of Savine, one ounce.Alcoholic Solution of Potass,
six ounces.
Digest for four days. (Augustin ; Nie-mann ; Van Mons)
This tincture may be prepared extempo-raneously by dissolving two drams of essen-tial oil of savine in six ounces of alkalinetincture.
Swediaur prescribes one ounce of sa-vine, and eight ounces of alkaline tincture.

Digest for several days, express, and
filter. — Dose, thirty drops several times a
day.
EMMENAGOGUE POTION. (Ellis)
R. Tincture of Savine, one ounce.
Tincture of Black Hellebore,
half an ounce.

Mix. — Dose, forty drops thrice a day.

R. Fresli Leaves of Savine, bruised,one pound.Yellow Wax (140 degrees),
half a pound.Prepared Lard (97 degrees),
two pounds.Melt the lard and wax together;and boil the leaves in the mixture ;then strain through a linen cloth.
Unguentum Juniperi Sabinas.(Edinb.)
R. Fresh Leaves of Savine,
two parts
Yellow AVax, one part.
Lard, four parts.
Melt the wax and lard together,
boil the leaves in the mixture, and
strain through a cloth.

Fresh Leaves of Savine, freedfrom the stalks, and bruised,
half a pound.
Lard, two pounds.
Yellow Wax, half a pound.
Boil the leaves in the lard till they
are crisp, and express ; then melt the
wax in the impregnated lard.
Bavar. ; Suec. ; Niemann ; Swe-diaur ; and Van Mons give the same for-mula as Edinb.
Amer. ; and Coxe direct six parts of ce-rate of resin to be mixed with one part ofpowdered savine.
It is employed as an epispastic.
