FERRUM.— IRON.
Mint Water, thirteen ounces.
Spirit of Mint, one ounce and a half.Sulphate of Iron,
from twenty to thirty grains.Syrup of Tolu, one ounce and a half.
Mix. (Cadet de Gassicourt ; Swe-diaur)
R. Myrrh, one dram.
Simple Alexipharmic Water,
six ounces and a half.Spirituous Alexipharmic Water,
six drams.
Subcarhonate of Potass, half a dram.
Sulphate of Iron, twelve grains.
Simple Syrup, two drams.
Mix. (Niemann)
R. Myrrh, one dram.
Gum Arabic, one dram and a half.
Triturate together, adding water to form
a thick emulsion, and add
Sulphate, of Iron, "I of each,
Subcarbonate of Potass, J one scruple.Sugar, one dram.
Rose Water, seven ounces and a half.Spirit of Nutmeg, half an ounce.

Sugar, two drams.

Compound Spirit of Cinnamon,
six ounces and a half.Vinous Cinnamon Water, six drams.Subcarbonate of Potass, half a dram.Sulphate of Iron, twelve grains.

Infusion of Chamomile, six ounces.Distilled Water of Chamomile,
one ounce.Sulphate of Iron, fifteen grains.
Syrup of Orange Peel, one ounce.
Mix. (Augustin) This formula dif-fers from the preceding by the absence ofthe alkaline salt.
This mixture contains sulphate of potassand subcarbonate of iron. It ought to beabandoned, as should every other in whichdouble decompositions take place, which,for the most part, were neither calculatedon nor anticipated by the inventors. It isreputed tonic and emmenagogue, virtueswhich are said to be common to all ferru-ginous preparations. — Dose, from one totwo ounces, twice or thrice a day.

Triturate the myrrh with the sub-carbonate, then add the sulphate,and finally beat the whole into amass with the sugar.

Van Mons prescribes one part of cam-phor, two parts of sulphate, three of sub-carbonate of soda, eight of myrrh, and asufficient quantity of theextract of dog-grass.R. Myrrh, two drams.
