Coxe directs one dram of digitalis to beexposed to a moderate heat with a sufiicientquantity of water to obtain eight ounces ofstrained liquor, the vessel to be removedfrom the fire as soon as ebullition com-mences, set apart for a quarter of an hour,and then the liquor to he strained.

Syrup of Marshmallows, two ounces.

Boil till reduced to seven ounces and ahalf. Strain, and add
Tincture of Cardamoms, half an ounce.Mix. — This concentrated decoction is va-luable in cases where the alcoholic tincturemay not be employed.
