Dose, from six to twelve grains, thrice aday. This alliance of a substance whichcan only act mechanically or in chemicalcombination, with others exercising a directand powerful action upon the living tissues,is very unreasonable. The principal ingre-dient ' in the preparation is completelymasked by the accessories ; and, instead ofbeing an absorbent, it is rather tonic andstimulant.
