These various compounds are principallyrecommended in hysteria. Many of themare called after the names of Sydenham,Hoffmann, Selle, Astruc, Fuller,Fouchin, Piderit, and Plenciz. Theyare, according to circumstances, stimulant,nervine, anthelmintic, anti-spasmodic, andemmenagogue. In a strong dose they arepin gative.
