Bashaw Mischa Palseologus, a re-negade, Christian, besieged Rhodeswith a fleet of 160 ships, and anarmy of 100,000 men. The grand-master received five -zounds duringthe siege. The Turks reimbarkedon the 19 th of August, after a siegeof eighty-nine days, leaving behindthem 9,000 slain, and carrying off'15,000 wounded.

Prince Zizim, the brother andrival of Bajazet, arrived at Rhodesthree months afterwards, and wentinto France, where he was strictlywatched by the knights in the prioryof Bourgneuf, in Poitou. Fie wasdelivered up to the agents of pope
