The root, leaves, and flowers are em-ployed.
The root {Radix Fárfara seu Tussilaginisseu Bechii seu Ungulœ Caballina) is long,thin, fibrous, whitish, inodorous, and in-sipid.
The leaves are rounded, somewhat heart-shaped at the base, angular, dentated, of adeep green colour and smooth above, andtomentose beneath ; they have long foot-stalks.
They are inodorous, and have a mucila-ginous and slightly bitter, and acerb taste.
The flowers are yellow and have a plea-sant taste.
It is slightly excitant and pectoral.

R. Leaves of Coltsfoot, two ounces.
Root of Liquorice, one ounce.
Flowers of Red Poppy, 1 of each,
Anise, J two drams.Cut and bruise.
CONSERVE OF COLTSFOOT.
Consena Fárfara. (Palat. ; Wirtem. ;Van Mons)
R. Flowers of Coltsfoot, one part.
White Sugar, two parts.
Beat together.
It is recommended in catarrhal cough. —Dose, two drams, four times a day.
LOHOCH OF COLTSFOOT.
Lohoch de Fárfara. (Wirtem. ; Piderit ;Spielmann)
R. Fresh Root of Coltsfoot, any quantity.Boil it in water ; then bruise it, and passit through a hair sieve. Boil the pulp withtwice its weight of honey.
SYRUP OF COLTSFOOT.
Syrupns Tussilaginis. (Bruns. ; Gall. ;Sard. ; Wirtem.)
R. Fresh Flowers of Coltsfoot,
four pounds.Boiling Water, eight pounds.
Infuse for twelve hours, and expressslightly : to the decanted liquor, add
White Sugar, twice the quantity.
Dissolve in a water-bath. (Gall.)
Bruns. ; and Wirtem. prescribe onepound and a half of flowers, two pounds ofboiling water, twenty-four hours' macera-tion, and sixteen ounces of sugar to nine ofthe strained liquor.
Sard, allows either an equal part each,of depurated juice and of simple syrup to bemixed together, or two parts of infusionwith one part of white sugar.

R. Flowers of Coltsfoot, one part.
Water. three parts.
Distil one part and a half.

Macerate for twelve hours. Boil in thestrained liquor,
