The root and herb are employed.
The root (Radix Taraxaci seu DentisLeonis) is cylindrical, long, of the thicknessof the finger, sometimes branched, furnishedwith fibrils. It is of a dark-brown colourexternally and white and milky internally ;
it is destitute of odour, and has a bitter,then sweet, and rather saline taste : it losesits bitterness by desiccation.
The herb consists of a rosette of long,runcinate, denticulated, smooth leaves of alight-green colour, inodorous, and of abitter taste.

Bruise in a stone mortar ; then express,set aside, and filter the juice. (Hass.)
Herbip. directs one dram of alcohol tobe added to each pound of juice. — Sard.requires it to be clarified.
Dose, from two to four ounces.
