STANNUM.—TIN.
R. Powdered Tin, one ounce.
Root of Male Fern, six drams.
Semen Contra, half an ounce.
Jalap, 1 of each,
Sulphate of Potass, j one dram.
Honey, a sufficient quantity.

AMALGAM OF TIN. (AmER. ; HlSP. J Her-
bip. ; Ooxe ; Saunders)
R. Tin, two ounces.
Mercury, three ounces.
Heat the mercury in acrucihle till it be-gins to he volatilized ; then add the tinfused separately, and agitate the mixture ina marble mortar, adding a little muriate ofsoda : lastly wash it well, and dry it in a.linen cloth. (Hisp.)
Saunders directs three drams of mer-cury and two ounces of tin to be united,and the amalgam triturated to powder in amarble mortar. — Amer. ; and Coxe — liveparts of tin and two of mercury to be unitedand the amalgam triturated with one partof prepared chalk till it has entirely lost itsmetallic lustre. — Herbip. — one ounce oftin to be amalgamated with one ounce ofmercury, and the mixture when cold to bepowdered with one ounce of prepared oys-ter shells.

Rose Ointment, one ounce.
Nitric Oxide of Mercury, two drams.
Oil of Peppermint, twenty drops.
Triturate together.

Keep it in fusion in an open vessel, tillit is entirely converted into a grey powder ;then triturate and sift it. (Palat, ; Swe-diaur; Van Mons)

water, any quantity.
Solution of Potass,
a sufficient quantity,to precipitate and re-dissolve the oxide.Filter the liquor, and precipitate the oxidewith hydrochloric acid. (Niemann)
It is anthelmintic and purgative, and isprincipally prescribed against tinea, thoughit is also extolled in phthisis pulmonalis. —Dose, five or six grains.

R. Regulus of Antimony, four parts.
Fine Tin, five parts and a half.
Fuse together, and pour the mass upon a
cold metal slab ; pulverize, and mix it with
Nitrate of Potass, fifteen parts.
Project the mixture into ft crucible at awhite heat, and still keep it at the same heatfor some time after it is fused ; then havinglet it cool, wash it with cold water, and dryit slowly. (Van Mons)
