JUICE OF POMEGRANATE.

Succus Granatorum. (Hisp. ; Gall.;

Swediaur)

R. Unripe Pomegranates, any quantity.Remove the external rind, cut the rest,and triturate with a wooden spatula in or-der to separate the seeds ; then bruise in astone mortar, and express the juice eitherin a bag or between two layers of rye strawchopped and washed with warm water. Setthe juice aside, decant, and preserve it inbottles under a stratum of oil.

SYRUP OF POMEGRANATE.

Syrupus Granatorum seu de Granatis.(Hisp.; Gall.; Palat.; Wirtem.)

R. Depurated and filtered juice of

Pomegranate, two pounds.

White Sugar, three pounds and a half.Dissolve at a moderate heat. (Gall.)

Hisp. ; and Lusit. prescribe one part ofjuice and two parts of sugar. Wirtem.ten ounces of the former and sixteen of thelatter, to be boiled to a syrup.

decoction of the bark of pomegra-nate root. (Ellis ; Fee ; Mages-dig; Niemann)

R. Bark of Pomegranate Root,

two ounces.Water, two pounds.

Boil down to three-fourths.

It is recommended against taenia. Dose,

two ounces every half hour. Four dosesusually suffice for the expulsion of the worm.

decoction of pomegranate rind.(Form. Hop. Fr.)

R. Pomegranate Rind, one ounce.

Water, a sufficient quantity,

to obtain two pounds of strained decoction.Boil for a quarter of an hour, and add

Liquorice, two drams.

It is astringent.

ASTRINGENT FOMENTATION. (RaTIER)

R. Pomegranate Rind, "I of each,

Root of Bistort, J two ounces.

Red Wine, one pound.

Boil and add when strained,

Muriate of Ammonia, two drams.

Dissolve.

ASTRINGENT LAVEMENT. (HlSP.)

R. Pomegranate Rind, one ounce.

Water, a sufficient quantity,

to obtain two pounds of strained decoction.

ASTRINGENT GARGLE. (CADET DE GAS-

R. Infusion of Agrimony, ~|

Rind, | ounces.

---------------- Elder Flowers, J

Honey of Roses, 1 of each,

Syrup of Mulberries, J* three drams.Sulphuric Acid, twenty drops.

Mix.

rehmann's decoction of pomegranate

rind. (Niemann)

R. Pomegranate Rind, two ounces.

Gum Arabic, one dram.

Spring Water, two pounds.

Boil down to one half, and to each pound

of the decoction add

Extract of Buckbean, half a dram.

Alcoholized Sulphuric iEther,

one dram.Mix. It is astringent. Dose, half aglassful every hour and a half.
