Strain after twenty-four hours' infusion.
It is recommended to be applied to sordidsyphilitic ulcers.

1. Origanum Dictamnus, Linn. — Dittanyof Crete, Cretan Dittany, Dictamnus ofCandia.

The herb (Herlia seu Folia Dictamni Cre-tici) is employed. It consists of a branch-ing, reddish, hairy stem, furnished withleaves, the lower ones of which are oval,rounded, petiolated, whitish, and cottony ;and the upper, rounded, sessile, glabrous,frequently reddish, and covered with nume-rous glandular points. It bas a strong andbalsamic odour, and an aromatic and bit-terish taste.
It is stimulant, and used to be esteemedemmenagogue.

SYRUP OF DITTANY.
Syrupus de Dilamno. (Gall.)
R. Dried Tops of Dittany of Crete,
one ounce.Distilled Water of Dittany of Crete,
two pounds.
Digest in a water-bath for two hours in acovered vessel ; then strain and filter. Add,
White Sugar, twice the weight,
and make a syrup in a water-bath.

The tops [Herba et Flores Majoranœ seuAmqraci seu Sampsuchi) are employed. &/They are composed of a quadrangular stem,furnished with oval, cottony, whitish leaves,and with white flowers disposed in short,rounded spikes, which, standing in threesor fours, form a kind of head. It has anagreeable odour, and an aromatic, acrid,and bitterish taste.
It is stimulant and errbine.
