Fenn. ; and Suec. prescribe two ounceseach, of manna, of sugar, and of fennelwater, one dram of iris, and one ounce ofoil of almonds. — Palat. ; and Wirtem. —two ounces each, of sugar, of manna, andof sloe-flower water, one dram of iris, andone ounce of oil. — Wirtem. — two ounceseach, of manna, of sugar, and of rose water,one dram of iris, and half an ounce of oil.

It is mildly laxative, and is principallyrecommended for infants. — Dose, from oneto four drams.

Dissolve the manna, with a moderateheat, in the water ; add the solution to themixture of the oil and syrup, and mix inti-mately.

This preparation is proposed by Cheval-lier and Idt ; it differs very little fromTronchin's marmalade. There are otheranalogous preparations under the names ofLinctus mannatus (Herbip. ; Saunders;Swediav r) , Linctus aperiens (Saunders),Mixtura laxatis (Ph. Syph.), and Potionpurgative (Pieröuin ; Sainte-Marie), ofwhich the following are the formula? :
