19. Procured a stronger silken cord, and applied it to thefollowing experiments. Rv measuring the diameters, &c,as before, on the 1st of May, the dimensions came out asbelow.
Diameter of cylinder alone . . 2-06

Note, That the machine made always 15 turns, and thetime of each turn was carefully noted. Then the time of the5th turn being taken from that of the 15th, left the time of10 turns; and this by pointing off the first figure for a deci-mal, gave the time of 1 turn registered in the table as above.
