As burghmaistres, eskyvins et counselx de la ville de Bruges. — As advoé, eskyvinset counselx de la ville de Ipre. — As doyens des tisturers, fullers, teyntours et toun-dours de la ville de Gaund. — A Jaques d'Arteveld, de la ville de Bruges (sic).

Le Roi ordonne de payer aux marchands de la société des Bardi, deFlorence, la somme de 1,163 livres 3 sous 3 deniers, qu’ils ont payée à JeanBochorn, Albert Cobbere, Liévin van Artevelde et Jean van Osenbrigge.marchands d’ Allemagne, s’ils peuvent établir par lettres des échevins deBruges en Flandre qu’ils ont fait ce paiement et qu’ils n’en ont jamais reçul’équivalent sur les 800 sacs de laine que le Roi leur a assignés le 4 juillet 1340,preuve qu’ils disent posséder maintenant.

Order to allow 1,163 lb. 3 s. 3 d.» of « gros tournois » to the merchants of the Society of the Bardi, if they find after» viewing the letters of the « échevins » of Bruges of Flanders that the satisfied John» Bochorn, Albert Cobbere, Linvius d’Arlewelle (sic), John de Osenbrigge and their» fellows, merchants of Almain, and that they never received any wool or other pay-» ment or satisfaction for the same, as they bound themselves for the King to the seid» merchants of Almain in 1,163 lb. 11 s. 3 d. « gros tournois » in which the King was» bound to them, and on 4 July in the 3 sd year * of the reign, the King granted to them» 800 sacks of his wool for levying the said sum thereof and to pay the merchants» therefrom, and now the merchants hâve besought the King to order allowance to be» made to them as aforesaid, as they hâve fully satisfied the merchants of Almain for» the said sum, as may appear by the letters patent of the said « échevins », which are» in their possession, as they assert, and they hâve never received anything of the» wool. » ( Marlborough .)
