mander newly Invested arose, and after making the due reverences, he retired to the left of the Throne.The Registrar then delivered to him an authenticated copy of the Statutes of the Order.

“ The acting King of Arms again retired, accompanied by the Knight Commander last Invested, andby the next junior Knight Commander, making three reverences, and then introduced into the Hall ofSaint Michael the Knight Commander Elect, the Most Illustrious Chevalier Angiolo Condari, theacting King of Arms being in front, and bearing on a velvet cushion the Insignia of a Knight Com-mander, the two Knights Commanders supporting the Knight Commander Elect, conducted himtowards the Throne, making three reverences, and having arrived near the same, the acting King ofArms presented to His Excellency the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Order. The KnightCommander Elect having knelt, the Prelate of the Order administered to him the prescribed Oath,after which His Excellency Invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the MostDistinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George.

“ His Excellency then delivered the Admonition required by the Statutes, when the Knight Com-mander newly Invested arose, and after making the due reverences, retired to the left of the Throne.The Registrar then delivered to him an authenticated copy of the Statutes of the Order.

“ His Excellency the Lord High Commissioner, as the representative of His Majesty, then directedthe acting King of Arms to proclaim that the Ceremonial of the Investitures was concluded, when aRoyal Salute was fired.

“ The Procession quitted the Hall of Saint Michael in inverted order, the newly Invested KnightGrand Cross, and Knights Commanders, wearing their respective Insignia of the Order, and fallinginto the Procession, immediately before the Officers of the Order.

CEREMONIAL OF THE INVESTITURE OF DR. CLAUDIO VINCENZO BONNICI, ONE OF HIS MAJESTY’SJUDGES, AND MEMBER OF THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF JUSTICE, WITH THE ENSIGNS OF A KNIGHTCOMMANDER OF THE MOST DISTINGUISHED ORDER OF SAINT MICHAEL AND SAINT GEORGE, ATTHE PALACE, VALLETTA, MONDAY, THE 27tH JULY 1835.

“ The Royal Warrant having been addressed to Sir Giuseppe Calcedonio Debono, Knight GrandCross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, directing him, in the nameand on behalf of the Sovereign, to proceed to the Ceremonial of the Investiture of Dr. ClaudioVincenzo Bonnici, nominated and appointed by His Majesty a Knight Commander of the Most Dis-tinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, the acting Secretary of the Order received thecommands of Sir Giuseppe Calcedonio Debono for the Investiture to take place this day.

“ At twelve o’clock Sir G. C. Debono arrived at the Palace, and was received in the Tapestry Roomin state, as representative of the Sovereign, by all the Knights of the Order.

“ A Procession was then formed by the Knights of the Order, according to seniority; and Sir G. C.Debono, wearing his Mantle and Badge, supported by two Knights Grand Crosses, and preceded bythe acting Secretary, bearing the Royal Warrant on a crimson velvet cushion, and by the seniorKnight Commander, carrying the Sword of State, the Procession proceeded through the great Corridorof the Palace, in which was stationed a Guard of Honour from the Royal Fusiliers, to the AudienceRoom, where Sir G. C. Debono was received by the acting Lieutenant-Governor, who was attended byhis Staff, by the Dignitaries of the Church, and by the Principal Civil, Naval, and Military Officers,for the purpose of assisting at this Ceremony.

“ Sir G. C. Debono, as Representative of the Sovereign, then took his seat on a Chair of State.

“ By command of the Representative of the Sovereign, Dr. Claudio Vincenzo Bonnici was thenconducted to the presence, supported by the two junior Knights Commanders present, and precededby the acting Secretary, bearing the Ribband, Badge, and Star of a Knight Commander on a crimsonvelvet cushion.
