“ CEREMONIAL OF THE INVESTITURE.

“This day, Tuesday, the 11th of October 1825, being appointed by His Excellency Lieutenant-General Sir Frederick Adam, Lord High Commissioner in and for the United States of the IonianIslands, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath, Knight GrandCross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, &c. &c. for the Investitureof His Highness the Chevalier Marino Veja, with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross, and the MostIllustrious Doctor Pietro Coidan, and the Most Illustrious Chevalier Angiolo Condari, with theInsignia of Knights Commanders of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George.At eleven o’clock A. M. His Excellency being seated on the Throne, in the Hall of Saint Michael, at thePalace of the Order, and surrounded by the Officers of State, and the Officers of the Order, asmanifested in the foregoing Programme, directed that the Sovereign’s Warrants, under the Privy Seal,empowering the Lord High Commissioner to Invest the aforesaid Distinguished Personages be read.

“ The Registrar of the Order, in obedience to the commands of His Excellency, then read thefollowing Warrants :

“ ‘ GEORGE R.

“ ‘ George the Fourth, by the grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland,King, Defender of the Faith, to Our trusty and well-beloved Sir Frederick Adam, Lieutenant-Generalof Our Army, Our Lord High Commissioner in and for the United States of the Ionian Islands, andKnight Commander of Our Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath, greeting :

“ ‘ Whereas We have been graciously pleased to nominate and appoint Mr. Pietro Coidan, to be aKnight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; andwhereas, in consequence of Our absence from the said United States of the Ionian Islands, the Cere-mony of Investing the said Mr. Coidan cannot personally be performed by Us, know ye that We of OurPrincely grace and special favour, do hereby authorize and require you at such time and place, as mayappear to you most proper and expedient, to proceed in Our name, and on Our behalf, to theCeremonial of the Investiture of Mr. Pietro Coidan, with the Ensigns of a Knight Commander of Oursaid Order, in the most honourable and distinguished manner, as directed in and by the Statutes of theOrder, wherein you are to take especial care that nothing be omitted which may redound to thehonour, splendour, and dignity of Our said Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and SaintGeorge, and which may at the same time evince Our Royal regard for Mr. Pietro Coidan, on whomWe have been graciously pleased to confer the Insignia thereof.

“ Given at Our Court at Carlton House, the thirtieth day of June, Onethousand eight hundred and twenty-five, in the sixth year ofOur reign.
