The Senate, being the Executive Government of these States, preceded by its two Secretaries ofFinancial and Political Departments, and led by their Secretary for the General Department.
His Excellency the Lord High Commissioner of the Protecting Sovereign, representing His Majesty,by special Warrant, on this august occasion, supported by the Most Illustrious thePresident of the Supreme Council of Justice, and the Major-GeneralCommanding the Fort and Garrison of Corfu.
“ The Procession will be led by the Masters of the Ceremonies, from the Banqueting Hall, throughthe Hall of Saint George and the Circular Hall, and entering the Hall of Saint Michael, by the doorfronting the Throne, it will proceed towards the same, between the line of Serjeants. Those in frontwill take the right or left of the Hall as they enter. His Excellency having made the due reverences,will take his seat on the Throne, upon which a Royal Salute will be fired. From the moment theProcession commences its march, the Military Bands will play ‘ God save the King,’ and will continueto do so until the Royal Salute shall have been fired.
“ INVESTITURE.
“ His Excellency being seated on the Throne, will order Divine Service to be performed. Afterwhich will be presented to him the Warrants under the Privy Seal, which command Him to proceedto the Investiture. His Excellency will deliver these Warrants to the Registrar of the Order, whowill read them aloud, after which a Royal Salute will be fired.
“ During the reading of the Warrants, His Excellency will stand uncovered, and afterwardsresume his seat.
“ His Excellency will order that the names of the Distinguished Individuals, nominated by HisMajesty to the several Classes of the Order, be proclaimed by the King of Arms, who will then retire,accompanied by two Knights Grand Crosses, making three reverences to the Throne, and afterwardsintroduce the Knight Grand Cross Elect into the Hall of the Order, preceded by the King of Arms,bearing on a velvet cushion the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross. The two Knights Grand Crosseshaving between them the Knight Grand Cross Elect, will conduct him towards the Throne, makingthree reverences, and when they shall have arrived at the Throne, the King of Arms will present to HisExcellency the Ribband and Badge of the Order.
“ The Knight Grand Cross Elect having knelt, the Oath prescribed by the Statutes will be adminis-tered to him by the Prelate, the King of Arms holding the book, after which His Excellency willInvest the Knight Grand Cross Elect with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross, and will deliver tohim the Star.
“ His Excellency will then deliver the Admonition prescribed by the Statutes, when the newlyInvested Knight Grand Cross will arise, and after the due reverences, will retire to the right of theThrone, where the Registrar will present him with an authenticated copy of the Statutes of the Order.
“ When the Investitures of the Knight Grand Cross shall have been concluded, a Royal Salutewill be fired.
“ The King of Arms will then introduce, respectively, the Knights Commanders Elect, supported bythe two Junior Knights Commanders, and conduct them to the Throne. After they shall have takenthe prescribed Oath in the form aforementioned, His Excellency will Invest them with the Badge ofKnights Commanders of the Order, and will deliver to each of them the Star, and will read to themthe Admonition prescribed by the Statutes, after which the new Knights Commanders will retire to theleft of the Throne, making the due reverences.
“ The Ceremony of the Investiture being concluded, a Royal Salute will be fired, and the Bandswill play ‘ Rule Britannia.’ The Procession will return in inverted order to the place from which ithad first moved.
