Sir Francis Surienne, called “ the Arragonese.”Elected 27th November and Installed 8th December1447. Resigned the Order, or Died about, butbefore 23rd April 1450.

CASIMIR THE FOURTH, KING OF POLAND.Elected 4th August 1450. Commissioners wereappointed to receive him into the Order in June1453, and the Robes were sent to him in April1456, and again in April 1459. He is said to havebeen Re-elected on the 23rd April 1472 (vide pp.94, 95); but his Elections were considered Void inconsequence of his not having been Installed. Died

1492.

Sir William, Duke of Brunswick. Elected 4thAugust 1450. His Election was considered Voidin consequence of his not having been Installed.Died July 1482.

Sir Richard Wydville, 1st Lord Ryvers. Elected4th August 1450. Received Robes from 1453 to1458. Created Earl Ryvers in 1466. Be-headed 12th August 1469.

Sir John Mowbray, 3rd Duke of Norfolk. Elected28th May 1451. Installed by Proxy 22nd April1452. Received Robes from 1453 to 1458. Died6th November 1461.

Sir Henry Bourciiier, 4th Lord and 1st ViscountBourchier, and Earl of Ewe in Normandy.Elected and Installed about 1452. Received Robesfrom 1453 to 1458. Created Earl of Essex in1461. Died 4th April 1483.

Sir Edward Hull. Elected 7th of May 1453, butwas never Installed. Slain 18th July 1453.

Sir John Talbot, 2nd Earl of Shrewsbury. Electedbefore 13th, and Installed 14th May 1457. Re-ceived Robes from 1457 to 1458. Slain 10th July1460.

Sir Lionel Welles, 6th Lord Welles. Elected be-fore 13th and Installed 14th May 1457. ReceivedRobes from 1457 to 1458. Slain 29th March 1461.

Sir Thomas Stanley, 1st Lord Stanley. Electedbefore 13th, and Installed 14th May 1457. ReceivedRobes from 1457 to 1458. Died 1458 or 1459.

FREDERICK, EMPEROR OF GERMANY. Elected14th May 1457, but was never Installed. HisElection either became Void, or he Resigned theOrder before 1461 (Vide p. 85, note). Died

Sir James Butler, 5th Earl of Ormond in Ireland,and 1st Earl of Wiltshire. Elected before23rd April 1459. Beheaded 17th April 1461.

Sir John Sutton, 4th Lord Dudley. Elected before23rd April 1459. Received Robes in 1488. DiedSeptember 1487.

Sir John Bourchier, 1st Lord Berners. Electedbefore 23rd April 1459. Died 16th May 1474.

Sir Richard Neville. Elected about July 1460.Created Earl of Warwick in 1462. Presumedto have been Degraded in 1468. Slain 11th April1471.

Sir William Bonville, 1st Lord Bon ville. Electedabout July 1460, but was not Installed. Beheaded18th February 1461.

Sir Thomas Kyriell. Elected about July 1460, butwas not Installed. Beheaded 18th February 1461.

Sir John Wenlok. Elected about July 1460. Cre-ated Lord Wenlok in 1461. Slain 4th May1471.

KING EDWARD THE FOURTH. Became thesixth SOVEREIGN OF THE ORDER, on the4th of March 1461 ; but had not been Elected aCompanion. Died 9th of April 1483.

Sir George Plantagenet, Duke of Clarence, bro-ther of the Sovereign. Elected in 1461. Exe-cuted 18th February 1478.

FERDINAND, KING OF NAPLES. Elected before21st March 1462, and probably in 1461. TheEnsigns were sent to him in July 1463, and heis supposed to have been Installed. Died 25thJanuary 1494.

Sir Francis Sforza, Duke of Milan. Elected before21st March 1462, and probably in 1461. He wasnever Installed, and his Election became void.Died 8th March 1466.

Sir James Douglas, 9th Earl of Douglas in Scot-land. Elected before the 21st March 1462, andprobably in 1461. Died 15th April 1488.

Sir John Scrope, 5th Lord Scrope of Bolton.Elected before the 21st March 1462, and probablyin 1461. Received Robes in 1488 and 1494.Died 17th August 1498.

Sir Gaillard de Durefort Seigneur de Duras.Elected before 21st March 1462, and probably in1461. Degraded 4th November 1476.

Sir William Chamberlain. Elected in 1461. Diedbefore 22nd April 1463, and probably very soonafter his Election.

Sir Robert Harcourt. Elected before the 21stMarch 1462, and probably in 1461. Slain 14thNovember 1470.
