Sir John Tiptoft, 1st Earl of Worcester. Electedbefore the 21st March 1462, when a warrant wasissued for Installing him by Proxy. Beheaded18th October 1470.

Sir William Hastings, Loud Hastings. Electedbefore the 21st March 1462, when a warrant wasissued for Installing him by Proxy. Beheaded13th June 1483.

Sir John Neville, Lord Montagu. Elected beforethe 21st March 1462, when a warrant was issued forInstalling him by Proxy. Created Earl of North-umberland in 1467, and Marquess Montagu in1470. Slain 14th April 1471.

Sir William Herbert, 1st Lord Herbert. Electedbefore the 21st March 1462, when a warrant wasissued for Installing him by Proxy. Created Earlof Pembroke in May 1468. Beheaded 27th July1469.

Sir John Astley. Elected before the 21st March1462, when a warrant was issued for Installing himby Proxy. Living in 1484, but died soon after-wards.

Sir Richard Plantagenet, Duke of Gloucester,brother of the Sovereign. Elected before 4th Fe-bruary 1466. Ascended the Throne as KINGRICHARD THE THIRD, on the 26th June1483.

Sir Anthony Wydeville, Lord Scales. Electedabout April 1466. Succeeded as 2nd Earl Ry-vers in 1469. Beheaded June 1483.

Sir Inigo d’Avalos, Count de Monte Odorisio.Elected about April 1467, but he does not appearto have been Installed. (Vide p. 92 antea). Died2nd September 1484.

Sir Charles, Duke of Burgundy. Elected about1469. Invested in January 1470. Slain 5th Ja-nuary 1477.

Sir William Fitz Alan, 11th Earl of Arundel.Elected about, but before 1472. Received Robesin 1488. Died early in 1488.

Sir John Mowbray, 4th Duke of Norfolk. Elected23rd April 1472. Died 10th January 1476.

Sir John Stafford, 1st Earl of Wiltshire. Elected23rd April 1472. Died 8th May 1473.

Sir Walter Devereux, 6th Lord Ferrers ofChartley. Elected 23rd April 1472. Slain 22ndAugust 1485.

Sir Frederick Ubaldi, Duke of Urbino. Elected18th August 1474. Installed at the Feast in 1475.Died 10th September 1482.

Sir Henry Percy, 4th Earl of Northumberland.Elected 18th August 1474. Received Robes in1488. Slain 28th April 1489.

Sir Edward Plantagenet, Prince of Wales, eldestson of the Sovereign. Elected 15th May 1475.The statement that he was Elected on 23rd April1472 (vide p. 94) seems very doubtful. ReceivedRobes in 1480. Ascended the Throne as KINGEDWARD THE FIFTH, on the 9th April 1483.

Sir Richard Plantagenet, Duke of York, secondson of the Sovereign. Elected 15th May 1475.Received Robes in 1480. Died 1483.

Sir Thomas Grey, 8th Lord Ferrers of Groby, and1st Marquess of Dorset. Elected in 1476.Attainted and Degraded in 1483. Restored to theOrder in 1485. Received Robes in 1488 and1494. Died 20th September 1501.

Sir Thomas Montgomery. Elected in April 1477.Received Robes in 1488 and 1494. Died 11thJanuary 1495.

FERDINAND THE FIFTH, KING OF SPAIN.Elected 10th February 1480, but His Election issupposed to have become Void before April 1484(vide p. 99). Died 23rd January 1516.

Sir Hercules d’Este, Duke of Ferrara. Elected10th February, and Installed 26th October 1480.Received Robes in 1480. Died 25th January1505.

JOHN THE SECOND, KING OF PORTUGAL.Elected 15th September 1482 ; but his Election issupposed to have become Void before April 1484(vide p. 99). He was Re-elected in 1488, and In-vested on the 2nd of May 1489. Died 25th Octo-ber 1495.

KING EDWARD THE FIFTH, who had been Electeda Companion on the 15th of May 1475, became theseventh SOVEREIGN OF THE ORDER, onthe 9th of April 1483. Deposed on the 25th ofJune 1483. Died 1483.
