Unguentum Infusi Mkloes Vesicatorii. E. Ointment of InfusedCantharides. Similar to the Ung. Canthar. L. The cantharidesare in both rendered nearly inert by boiling. An ointment of Can-tharadine would be preferable.Unguentum Iodinii. D. Iodine Ointment. Take 9j of iodine, jj offresh prepared lard; incorporate by trituration in a glass mortar.Medicinally it is applied with good effect to wens and scrofulous swell-ings, and also for scirrhus, &c. It renders the skin yellow, but thissoon wears off. When it irritates the skin, the proportion of iodinemust be diminished, or partially discontinued; when it does not, theiodine may be increased. The iodurets of lead and of mercury arealso used in ointments in similar cases.Unguentum Laurinum. P. Laurel Oir tment. Take 500 parts oflaurel-leaves, 1000 parts of prepared lard, incorporate in a mortar,melt in a gentle heat till all moisture disappear, and towards theend add 500 parts of laurel-berries, in powder; digest in a water-bath for ten hours, and strain through linen. It is tonic andnervine.Unguentum Lupulin^e. Take one part of lupulin, and three parts of

prepared hogs'-lard, and make an ointment. (Freake.)Unguentum Lytt,e. See Ung. Canthar.

Unguentum Nutritum. Take itss of litharge, Jv of acetic acid, ftj ofolive oil, melt the litharge and oil, and triturate by small portionswith the acid, till it is quite white. It is applied to ulcers with in-flamed edges.Unguentum Ophthalmicum. See Ung. Hydrarg. Nitrat., Ung.

Takefive parts of simple ointment, one part of white oxide of lead; mix,and make an ointment to be applied to burns and excoriations.Unguentum Oxidi Hydrargyri Cinerei. E. Ointment of GreyOxide of Mercury. Take one part of the grey oxide of mercury,three parts of prepared lard, make an ointment as a substitute forstrong mercurial ointment.Unguentum Oxidi Zinci Impuri.
