iered it, chiefly by the addition ofCaftor and Storax : And after themour College have copy'd it into theirfirft Difpenfatory. The MguftanDifpenfatory, indeed, gives two dif-tinà Forms of it, one ftanding un-der the Title of PiluU de Cynogloffocum Cafloree, which hath been theneareft followed by the College intheir late Emendations. They aregreatly recommended by Zwelferagainft Catarrhs, and for fo do-ing he had the Authority of Bene-diñus Faventinus, a celebrated Phy-fician of Bcnonia, who ufed it withgreat fuccefs in Salt Defluftions,in mixture with Juice of Liquorifeand the PiluU de -Aloe Lota. ThePharmacopoeia Regia gives 'a Pill deCynogloffo Anodyna, which is therepreferr'd in many Cafes to thecommon Laudanum. The Dofe isfrom gr. viii. to gr. xv. to take atNight.

Thefe were firft ordered in thelaft Difpenfatory of the College butone ; and therewith a fufficientquantity of the Oil of Cloves tomake them into a Mafs, only witha little Syrup j but the afcertainingthe quantity is much better both forthe Compounder and Prefcriber, tho what is here allowed will notmake it by much fo warm as be-fore, nor as the Cochis.
