In the Difpenfation of this Medi-cine, Zweifer divides the Ingredientsinto feveral Clnffes, according totheir Similitude of Textures ; thofeof each Clafs to be diflblv'd as theGums,and the other powder'd fepa-rately, and afterwards mixed : butfuch a trouble feems altogetherneedlefs ; for fome of the moretough and moid Ingredients willbeat well enough with fuch as aredryer and more brittle, and pafsthe Sieve together 5 and fome evenpowder the Opium it felf, which isas good a way as any, if it has beenalready cleanfed of its Fices. Allthe Herbs ought to be clear'd oftheir Stalks, and to be as frefh aspoffible 5 as alfo the Roots fromevery thing that is unfound or de-caying. The Saffron, if its Co-lour be infilled on, may be powder'dfeparately, and put into the Wine,drawn from the Vipers, as directedin the Mithridate. The Galbanum,Turpentine, tfie. muft be firft ilrain'dand mix'd with the Honey : andthen the Species fifted in leifurely,another ftirring it all the time, thatit may be well mix'd ; and lad ofall the Wine is to be put in. The TrochesofiSjiV/Wiarelikewife rejected, withthofe of the Viper ; becaufe themanner of making them into thofeForms, deftroys the Virtues whichthey are intended to retain.
