Sal CoralHi, Salt and Magißery ofCoral.

' Take any Quantity of red Coral

• in fine Pouder ; put it into a clean« frnooth earthen Difh, or wide-« mouth'd Glafs; mix with it di-« ftill'd Vinegar, and there will pre-« lèntly arife a flrong Ebullition:« when that is over, put more di-« IHil'd Vinegar to it; and fo conti-« nue to do, as long as any Fermen-

• tation continues; then fet it upon

• a warm Sand, ftirring it now and« then with a clean Tobacco-Pipe,' till the Heat excites no Efferve-' fcency ; then filter the Liquor, put« by a Moiety of it for the Magiftc-

• ry, and the other part evaporate

• to Drynefs, in a gentle Heat ;

• which is the Salt of Coral.'

After the fame manner may bemade the Salt of Crabs Eyes, or ofany teftaceous Pouder. Thisisfaidto operate both by Sweat and Urine,to be Cardiac, Hop Fluxes, Hemor-rhages, and reiift Ppiibns. Its Doleis from gr. x. to 5 i. but it is nowiêldom us'd.

• ThtMagifiery is made, by pur-

• ting to the other Part of the

• Liquor, Oil of Tartar fer Deli-' quium, by Drops, until there ap-' pears a white Curd, which in a' little time will fall to the bottom:' when the Liquor is clear, drop in' more; aad it it turns the Liquor

• white as before, let it fettle, and

' fo continue till the Liquor will' not curdle by the Oil of Tartar' any more. When the Magifitry' is all fettled, decant the Liquor,' and put clean Water to the Magt-' fiery ; fhake it about, let it fettle,' and decant as before, and fo do' five or fix times, till the Magiftery

* has loft all its fait Tafte; and then« dry it for Ufe."

This is of the fame Virtues asthe Salt, but is directed in largerDofes.

Tindtura Corallii, Tincture ef Coral.This is made feveral Ways, andwith divers Minflruums, which byTime and Heat become red : it ifthought by ibme, that the Tinfturaproceed» more from the Spirit thanthe Coral. The beft way feems tobe the following.

m ' Reduce ft Is. of red Coral into' an impalpable Pouder, and mix it' with its equal Weight of fublim'd' Sal Armoniac in Pouder ; put the' Mixture into a Retort, which place

* in Sand, fit to it a Receiver, and' having well luted the Junctures,' make a Fire of the firft Degree for

* one Hour; proceed to the fecond' two Hours; go on to the third,' where keep it three Hours, or till' all the Sal Artnoniac is fublim'd.' It will be ting'd with a Variety of' Colours, as Red, Green, Blue,

■ &c . and contains in it th« true' Tindhire of Coral, which is ap-' parent by its Body being left' white at the bottom of the Retort.' Put all thefe fublim'd Flowers into
