Whether the decoction be performed, as former-ly direcled, in a long-necked matrafs, with itsmouth lightly ftopt, or in a circulatory veflel, whichftill more fecurely prevents any lofs of the volatileparts of the balfam, is left to the Operator. If along-necked matrafs be clofed by another of a fmallneck, inverted into it, and the junfture luted, itforms a veflel anfwering the fame purpofe as the cir-culatory veflel of the old chemifts, which has beenfound too expenfive.
