Diftilled Water two pints.

Re£ti£ed Spirit of Wine two oun-'ces by weight.

Boil the water with the root to one pint;and, the liquor being cold and ftrained, addto it the fpirit.

This isavery efficacious applicationindefedationsof the fldn, as in Tinea, &c. It may be diluted atdifcretion.

Dbcoction of Barley.

Take of Pearl-barley two ounces by weight.

Diftilled Water four pints.

The Barley being firft wafhed with cold wa-ter from the adhering irnpurities, pour uponit about half a pint of water, and boil theBarley a little time. This water being thrownaway, add the diftilled water, fcoiling, to theBarley; boil it to two pints, and ftrain.
