CALOMELAS.

Calomel.

Take of muriated Quickfilver one pound.

Purified Quickfilver, by weight,nine qunces.

Rub them togetlier tili the globules dif-appear, and fublime ; then rub all the mat-ter again, and fublime. In the fame man-ner repeat the fublimation four times. Af~terwards rub the matter into the fineft pow-der, and wafh it by pouring on boiling dif-tilled water.

It ig of the utmofb confequence that the ingre-dients be perfeftly, united before the fublimationis begun. The perfon, who rubs the fublimatewith the Quickfilver, fhould cover his mouth andnoftrils, as is common in the powdering Cantha-rides, &c. it being difficult to prevent the lighterparticles of the fublimate from affecting the mouthand eyes.
