EXTRACT OF PeRUVIAN BäRK.

Takeof Peruvian Bark, coarfely powdered,one pound.

Diflilled water twelve pints.

Boil it for one or two hours, and pour offthe liquor, which, while hot, will be red andpellucidj büt, as it grows cold, will becomeyellow and turbid. The farae quantity ofwater being again poured on, boil it as before,and repeat this boiling untill the liquor,being cold, remains clear. Then reduce all.thefe liquors, mixed and ftrained to a properthicknefs, by evaporation.
