CONSERVE OF THE HlP.

Take of the pulp of ripe Hips one pound.

Double-refined Sagar, powdered,tvventy ounces by weight.

Mix them into a Conferve.

This pulp fhould be feparated with great carcfrom the rough prickly matter inclofing the feeds ;a fmall quantity of which, retained in the Conferve,is apt to occafion an uneafinefs at the ftomach, äpruritus about the anus, and fometimes vomiting.L.

Put the Sloes in water, lipon the fire, thatthey may foften, taking care that they be notbroken j then, having taken them out of thewater, prefs out the pulp, and mix it withthree times its weight of double-refined fugarinto a Conferve.
