(Frank.Samlung, tom 1.) and adecoäion of the root, in ftones of thekidneys, and dropfy, from an induration of the liver. (Ib.)Bergius fays a decoclion of the frefh root in whey, ör broth,has fucceeded in difeafes of the liver where other remediesfailed, adding, that he had often fucceeded in refolving ahardnefs of the liver by a broth of this kind, joined withcream ofTartar,—drunkevery day for weeks ormonths ; andthat this regimen anfwers expe£tation in bilious calculi andafcites. A foft extract, made by infpiftating a deco&ion of theroots in water, given from tvvo to four tea-fpoonfuls everymorning, is praifed by Rofenßein for obftrucled vifeera, jaun-dice, and coftivenefs; and, by Zimmermann for tubercles ofthe lungs, in their Letters to Murray. See his App. Med.tom 1.
