This plant is too well known to need any defcriptiorLThe expreffed bitter juice of tlie leaves, not depurated, oronly freed from its großer faeculencies by paffing it througha coarfe ftrainer, is mixed with an equal quantity of whitewine_ and _^ifs, or fij, of the mixture, given night andmorning in fome hydropic cafes as a diuretic, (L.L.M.)and in the Icterus, (Ray Hiß. PL) In a larger dofe it isa ftrong purgative.
